Public hangings on the Musala square (1943)

In July 1943, under the cover of night, the Mostar Youth Detachment, led by Mladen Balorda, left Mostar to join the fight in the hills. However, their movement was reported to the SS Division “Prinz Eugen,” which attacked them near Kamena and killed a significant number of them. Some inexperienced fighters were captured and later executed in Ovojci. Two young fighters were singled out and publicly hanged in Mostar, as a warning, on July 15, 1943, at the Musala Square near the Neretva Hotel. Read more about them.
