A girl in a carefree walk in the city

The girl leisurely strolling through the city before the war is Sofija Bakarić, a girl from Mostar who later became a resident of Belgrade. As a member of the Communist Party, she was captured and sent to an Ustasha concentration camp, where she endured great suffering and met her death. Due to her ordeal, she became a symbol of the wartime suffering.
