Vera M. POPOVIĆ
VERA POPOVIĆ, daughter of MANOJLO, born on March 4, 1903,* in Županjac*. Housewife, lived with her family in Mostar. A member of the National Liberation War (NOP), sympathizer of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ). A tenant at Zlatka Vuković’s place. Arrested on the day of Zlatka’s clash with the Ustasha on July 31, 1941, and executed together with Zlatka, Ahmet Sefić, and her brother Dejan. A proclamation was issued after their execution.
The place of their death varies in sources: according to some, they were shot two hours after their arrest in the courtyard of the Mostar Gymnasium, while others state it happened in the village of Ovojci. A monument has been erected in Ovojci, engraved with their names.
