Vaso P. TOŠIĆ
VASILIJE VASO TOŠIĆ, son of PERO, born on December 29, 1905, in Mostar. Locksmith. Member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) since 1925, pre-war union official, activist, and official of the FC “Velež.” According to family tradition, he introduced a young Džemal Bijedić to the KPJ. He was arrested multiple times and convicted. In early September 1940, he was arrested due to a protest general strike in Mostar, which involved over 2,000 workers, all companies and craft workshops, as well as the Dark Coal Mine, triggered by the ban on activities of Velež, deemed a gathering place for progressive ideas. He was taken to the prison of Lepoglava. The first group of arrested individuals included: Imšir Gigić, Mustafa Bjelavac, Rade Bitanga, Mustafa Alajbegović, Smajo Brkić, Hasan Krešo, Slavko Balać, Luka Knežić. The second group of arrested individuals included Mustafa Humo, Velija Hujdur, Vasilije Tošić, Mile Ćećez, Ljubo Ajvaz, Rade Majstorović, and Rudolf Hrozniček. According to the data from the book “Spomenica Mostara 1941-1945,” he was handed over to the Ustaše in April 1941 and transferred to the Gospić concentration camp, where he was executed in July 1941.
