Mirko M. GLAVAŠ
MIRKO GLAVAŠ BAJA, son of MARKO, born on February 15, 1920, in Hodbina near Mostar, farmer. Member of SKOJ since 1942 and KPJ since 1943. Joined the NOV and POJ in May 1944 in the Savo Belović Detachment. Fighter of the 3rd Battalion of the 13th Hercegovina Brigade, killed in battle near the village of Kamena near Gacko on December 15 or 19, 1944. He fell beside his comrade, the fatally wounded fighter Jovo Lučić, also from Hodbina.
Circumstances of Mirko’s death:
“There, next to Jovo, lay his closest friend from the village, Mirko Glavaš, a squad leader in his platoon, fatally hit just a meter away from his commissar and friend. (…) Jovo was buried next to the squad leader Mirko Glavaš (at Šćepan Krst, note), and the next day Jovo’s father Đuro carried both bodies ‘on stretchers, without a word, towards their village of Hodbina and buried them in one tomb’.”
