Meho I. HUSKOVIĆ
MEHMED MEHO HUSKOVIĆ, son of IBRO, born in 1905 in Rotimlja near Stolac. Shoemaker, lived and worked in Mostar. A relative of the fallen fighter Mustafa Husković Karo. An activist of the labor movement. In the Battalion from the beginning of 1942, a fighter, participated in battles in the area of Prozor, Kupres, Livno and Bugojno. He fought in the Battle of Neretva, survived the Fifth Offensive on Sutjeska and returned to Mostar to recover with a group of 80 fighters. Captured by the Germans in a raid in Mostar in July 1943 caused by the betrayal of a “demoralized fighter”. According to one source, “the Ustasha police and the Gestapo tortured him until he was unconscious in the Mostar prison, but he remained firm and steadfast, not betraying anyone.” Shot at Ovojci near Mostar in mid-July 1943.
