Salko S. ČUKUR
SALIH SALKO ČUKUR, son of SALIH, born on January 20, 1922, in Mostar. Tailor. Member of the League of Communist Youth (SKOJ) since 1941, fighter of the 3rd Battalion, in the People’s Liberation War (NOB) since 1941, member of SKOJ since 1941. According to the list of fallen fighters published by E. Ćemalović in the book “Mostarski bataljon” and the book “Spomenica Mostara 1941-1945”, Salko Čukur is listed as a surviving fighter from the Battle of Sutjeska. However, one month after the end of the offensive, he was captured in a raid in Mostar and executed in Ovojci, which makes the original inscription on the memorial plaque inaccurate*.
A monument was erected in Ovojci after the war, on which the names of the executed fighters are engraved.
