Šefko H. DUGALIĆ
ŠEFIK ŠEFKO DUGALIĆ, son of HAMID, born on August 27, 1920, in Mostar, an upholsterer, member of the League of Communist Youth (SKOJ) since 1941, in the Battalion since April 1942. Fighter, killed in Bijela near Konjic in June 1942 in a clash with Chetniks.
There is a record of the final moments of Šefko Dugalić’s life and his comrades:
“In the evening, while the Chetniks were having dinner, their small groups remained to guard the school. At dusk, two hand grenades were thrown from the upper and ground floor exits of the school, and then the breakthrough began with an assault from the building. The Chetnik security, joined by the Chetniks who were having dinner, opened gunfire at our comrades. On that occasion, they killed: ŠEFKO DUGALIĆ, a worker from Mostar, MILAN IVETIĆ LONGA, a worker from Mostar. . . . MONTILJA, … from Sarajevo, STJEPAN ŠULENTIĆ, a lawyer from Mostar, AVDO VAJZOVIĆ, a worker from Konjic, and MEHMED ZALIHIĆ, a worker from Mostar. Šulentić, who was hit in the chest after leaving the school, fell and in his dying breath shouted to the fighters: ‘They killed me. Comrades, go forward!’”
