Šefik M. VILA
ŠEFIK VILA FIKA, son of MEHMED, born on November 9, 1920, in Mostar, turner, member of the League of Communist Youth (SKOJ) since 1939 and Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) since 1941. Joined the National Liberation Army and Partisan Detachments in December 1941. Requested to be sent to the Konjic Battalion after refusing the call to join the Domobran forces. Political delegate of the unit, died in battles against the Chetniks in Zaborani near Nevesinje in June 1942.
Circumstancse of Fika’s death, as recorded: “A group of locals led by Jakov-Joko Glogovac attempted to disarm and take six men from Mostar who were located in Žerojica to Dramiševo. There they found four fighters: Šefik Vila, a worker from Mostar, Mustafa Repak, a worker from Mostar, Kemal Kadić, a student from Konjic, and Dževad Jusufbegović, a student from Prozor. Joko Glogovac immediately tried to disarm them. The young men attempted to resist and were killed in the process.”
