Salih S. KANJE
SALIH KANJE, son of ŠAĆIR, born on September 4, 1919, in Mostar, was a tinsmith. He became a member of the Communist Youth League (SKOJ) in 1941. He was arrested by the Germans at the end of 1943 and interned in a camp in Germany, where he was also killed.

Number I-24 C1 Hamburg, January 9, 1944: Tinsmith and craftsman Salih Kanja, of Islamic faith, residing at Mostar, Croatia, passed away on January 9, 1944, at 9:00 AM in Hamburg, Neuengamme, Hausdeich 60. The deceased was born on September 4, 1919, in Mostar, registry office unknown. His father’s name was Schazir (Šaćir) Kanja, last known residence in Mostar, and his mother’s name was Hatiza (Hatidža), born Pekuschic (Pekušić), residing in Mostar. The deceased was married to Memnuna, born Sulic. He was included (in the list) based on an oral report from Criminal Secretary Otto Apenburg, with residence in Hamburg Neuengamme. The informant is known. Before the conclusion of the certificate, the entered statement was read and signed by Apenburg. Hamburg, January 9, 1944. Official Brake and signature. Cause of death: heart and circulatory failure with gastric and intestinal inflammation (inflammation of the stomach and intestines (diarrhea)). Marriage concluded by the deceased on May 15, 1941, in Mostar (Registry office unknown).
There is a Kanjina street in Mostar, possibly named after members of this family.
