Rabija N. ZEKIĆ
RABIJA RAPKA ZEKIĆ, daughter of NAZIF, born in 1924 in Gacko, a worker. She lived and worked in Mostar. A member of SKOJ (the Communist Youth of Yugoslavia) since 1940 and KPJ (the Communist Party of Yugoslavia) since 1941. Served as a nurse in the Battalion from October 1943. Killed during an attack on the partisan hospital in Grušća* near Konjic on April 27/28, 1944*.
Along with Rabija, the following nurses from the Battalion were also killed: Mugdeta Mujan, a student from Mostar, Fatima Ševa, a student from Mostar, Mila Andrić, a housewife from Borci near Konjic, Sofija Sofka Oneščuk, a clerk from Grude.
*Multiple sources state the year and place of Rabija Zekić’s death as 1944 in Grušća. On the memorial plaque, it was written Župa 1943.
