Omer A. GOLUBIĆ
NENAD OMER GOLUBIĆ, son of AHMED, born on May 23, 1921, in Mostar. Attended the Teacher Training School in Mostar where he encountered the ideas of the progressive youth movement. Member of the League of Communist Youth (SKOJ) since 1939 and the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) since 1941. Having responded to the call for uprising and while visiting the places around Čapljina and Stolac, he was arrested in August 1941 with a group of SKOJ members and taken to Mostar, but released due to lack of evidence. He joined the People’s Liberation Army and Partisan Detachments of Yugoslavia in late 1942, in the Mostar Battalion. He took part in the battles around Prozor, Kupres, Gornji Vakuf and other places. Participant in the “Battle for the Wounded” on the Neretva and the Battle on the Sutjeska. He especially distinguished himself in the defense of the direction Gacko-Piva monastery in the battles with the infamous SS “Prince Eugen” division, and in a series of other battles. He was killed at Krekovi near Tjentište on June 13, 1943, during the Fifth Offensive.
