Mustafa H. BULJKO
MUSTAFA BULJKO, son of HAMID, born on January 15, 1915, in Jasenica near Mostar, a farmer, a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) since 1942. He joined the National Liberation War and the Partisan Detachments of Yugoslavia in December 1941. He died as the deputy commissioner of the Mostar Youth Detachment in Kamena, near Mostar, in July 1943.
EXCERPT FROM THE LITERATURE:
“At dawn on July 5th, thanks to betrayal that was never determined, the Detachment was surrounded by soldiers of the 7th SS Division ‘Prinz Eugen,’ who unleashed a storm of gunfire from machine guns and automatic weapons at the fighters who were asleep before the guard could sound the alarm. Chaos erupted among disoriented and inexperienced fighters. Anyone who got up was mowed down by the gunfire or wounded if they didn’t surrender to the shouts of ‘Stop!’ Individuals and small groups managed to crawl away thanks to the uneven terrain, shrubs, and small forests, taking advantage of the scattered nature of the groups. Eighteen of them managed to escape the encirclement, which was not completely closed in certain areas. During this incident, ten fighters were killed: BORO RADAN, the Detachment’s commissar, a student from Mostar, MUSTAFA BULJKO, the deputy commissar, a gardener from Mostar, NAZIF DŽEPO, a student from Mostar, RIZAH HADŽIMAHMUTOVIĆ, a student from Mostar, SAFET KURTOVIĆ, a student from Mostar, MARTA PAVIĆ, a student from Mostar, ALIJA SALKOVIĆ, a worker from Mostar, AVDO TATAREVIĆ, a student from Stolac, ZIJAD VRGORA, a student from Mostar, and DUŠAN VUJIČIĆ, a worker from Sarajevo.”
