Ljubo A. BEKAVAC
LJUBOMIR LJUBO BEKAVAC, son of AMBRO, born on December 15, 1918, in Mostar. Official. Joined the National Liberation Army and Partisan Detachments in the spring of 1944 in the South Herzegovina Detachment, and later in the 4th Battalion of the 14th Herzegovina Brigade. Fighter of the 4th Battalion, killed in action against German units near the village of Kula (Nevesinje) on December 12, 1944.
Excerpt from literature:
“When on December 12th (1944) the Brigade failed to capture the bridge in Glavatičevo, on the evening of the 13th, it decided to change direction. It started from Dramiševo, passing through Seljani, Grdača, Trešnjevica, and Ulog, and on December 15th, it broke through to Kalinovik with the main force. Its 3rd Battalion, passing through Kifino Selo with the Hospital and warehouses, bypassed Crvanj. Besides the two lost days, the Brigade had 4 fatalities (including squad leaders of the 4th Battalion, Dušan Petrović from Zagora near Trebinje and Milan Ninković from Jasen near Trebinje, as well as Ljubo Bekavac from Mostar, Vlado Čampara from Biograd near Nevesinje, and Svetozar Popara from Plane near Bileća, fighters of the 4th Battalion).”
