Jusuf A. JERKOVIĆ
JUSUF JERKOVIĆ, son of AHMED, born on September 13, 1925, in Mostar, locksmith. Member of the League of Communist Youth (SKOJ) since 1941. Joined the People’s Liberation War and the Partisan Detachments of Yugoslavia in December 1941. Fought as a member of the Mostar (Konjic) battalion. Killed during the enemy’s fifth offensive on the Sutjeska River in June 1943. In a brief account, author Mensur Seferović quotes some fighters remembering that Jusuf and Smajo Jugo often “sang sevdalinka songs and Jusuf’s favorite song ‘Na majčinom grobu’ (‘At My Mother’s Grave’).”
