Hasan H. ORUČEVIĆ
HASAN ORUČEVIĆ, son of HAMID, born on September 16, 1914, in Mostar. Shoemaker, worked on the railway. A pre-war activist in the workers’ movement, he joined the Battalion in February 1942 as a fighter. He survived the Chetnik coup in 1942 in Bijela and was part of a group that managed to break through the encirclement. He was killed in Izgori near Gacko in June 1943 – executed by the Chetniks on the outskirts of the village after the Fifth Offensive at Sutjeska, while returning home to Mostar for recovery.
The name of Hasan Oručević is listed on the memorial plaque to fallen railway workers in Mostar, erected in 1952 and renovated by the ŽTP Administration in 2016.
