Early in the morning of March 28, 1945, seven days before the liberation of the city, the Ustasha publicly hanged 56 people at Marindvor, and several more were found in Luburić’s villa who could not be identified due to the mutilation of their remains. The name of Alija Pilavdžić was listed as number 4 on the notice/information board about the “shooting” punishment.
