Alija M. MARIĆ
ALIJA MARIĆ, son of MUJO, born on November 26, 1922, in Dobrč near Mostar. Farmer. Joined the National Liberation Army and Partisan Detachments on February 14, 1945, in the 14th Herzegovinian Brigade. Fighter in the 3rd Battalion. Killed in the battles for the liberation of Bihać in April 1945.
“On that day, the 14th Brigade, after replacing the 13th Brigade on its section of the front, held its positions to secure the passage of other units. However, it happened that the enemy simultaneously began to retreat. The brigade used this opportunity to liberate Ostrožac by pressing with its weaker units. In the battles fought by divisions from April 18 to 22, mainly in the Bihać field, 9 fighters and non-commissioned officers were killed, and around twenty were wounded. The following individuals were killed: Husein (Huso) Hamzić from Pješivac near Stolac, Esad Mehić from Mostar, and Milorad Mičić from Mostar, all three from the 13th Brigade; Lazar (Lazo) Lozo from Kuti Livač near Mostar, Alija Marić from Dobrč near Mostar, and Mehmed Omanović from Kuti Livač near Mostar, all three from the 14th Brigade…”
