EXCERPT FROM LITERATURE about Ahmet Šehović’s death:
“On the eve of New Year’s, squad leader Ahmet Šehović set out with a group to the Rama Detachment to collect supplies sent by the Supreme Headquarters for Herzegovina and Montenegro and for our Battalion. As we were crossing the railway, our column came under fire from improvised shelters. Šehović advanced toward an enemy bunker with a grenade in his hand. At the moment he swung to throw the grenade, he was hit by an enemy bullet in the arm. Ahmet dropped the grenade, which exploded and killed him. Danilo Bilanović, Muhamed Bakija, and Šerif Ombašić retrieved Ahmet’s body and carried him with other fighters towards the village of Trešnjevica, where they later buried him. Shortly after the gunfire, an armored train appeared, and in the dark night, the Germans randomly opened fire in the direction of our fighters.”
