Reuf M. ZUPČEVIĆ
REUF (MUSTAFA) ZUPČEVIĆ*, born on March 4, 1923, in Mostar. Graduated from the Trade Academy, football player for “Velež”. Member of SKOJ, expelled from school due to revolutionary activities. Arrested by Chetniks in Mostar in March 1943, handed over to Italians and taken to the Mamula camp, and then to the Visco di Udine camp. After the capitulation of Italy, joined the Slovenian brigade “Ljubo Šercer”. Fighter, died as a partisan in battles in Slovenia in the village of Ruše near Maribor in May 1944.
“We cut the telephone line, scattered the inventory. The police broke into the corridor that we barricaded. They managed to push us into the classroom, and a few of us were taken to the police station, where they beat us, and then released us home. When we came to school the next day, there was an announcement on the board that Esad Grebo, Mehmed Dvizac, Reuf Zubčević, Šefik Pašić, Esad Novo… were expelled from school due to unauthorized activities.”
