Osman O. ŠIŠIĆ
OSMAN ŠIŠIĆ HONTO, son of OSMAN, born in 1920 in Duvno*, a worker. Became a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) in 1944. Joined the Battalion in July 1943, serving as a lance corporal. He was killed in Grušće near Konjic in April 1944 during a Chetnik attack on the hospital with wounded and typhus patients.
“While staying in Glavatičevo, the commander of the Chetnik Konjic Brigade, through his informants, discovered the partisan hospital in the Grušće area on April 27, where wounded and sick fighters, hospital staff, and about ten field workers were located, totaling around 35 people. A group of 42 Chetniks under the direct command of Brigade Commander Veljko Remetić penetrated Grušće on April 28, attacked and overpowered the hospital defense. During April 29 and 30, the Chetniks discovered and killed wounded and sick partisan fighters along with captured hospital staff, field workers, and some members of the protective unit. Seven fighters from this unit broke through and joined the Detachment led by the political delegate Alija Kresa. Among those brutally executed, in the agony of typhus, was the commander of the Mostar NOB Detachment, Milan Mićević, whose severed head the Chetnik criminal Remetić sent to the German commander in Nevesinje as evidence of his loyalty to Nazism (…) According to incomplete information, the Chetnik criminals heinously massacred 28 fighters and leaders of the Mostar NOB Detachment and NOB political workers in the field in Grušće.”
