Muhamed S. PEKUŠIĆ
MUHAMED HAMO PEKUŠIĆ, son of SALIH, born on April 1, 1924, in Trebinje. High school graduate (student at the Gymnasium in Mostar). Member of the League of Communist Youth (SKOJ) since 1941, underground activist, responsible, among other things, for seeing off SKOJ members to the detachment. He lived in Mostar where he joined the youth movement. Arrested by the Ustaše in April 1944 in Mostar. From an Ustaše document, we learn that he was captured as a guide: “Sent to the camp upon the suggestion of the Ž.R.O. in Mostar for a period of 1 year; he was a party member for 14 months and led two groups of SKOJ members. He transferred both groups among the rebels.” He was sent to the Jasenovac camp, where he was killed in 1944.
Muhamed’s name was recorded on the memorial plaque at Mostar Gymnasium after the war. The plaque disappeared without a trace during the events of the war from 1992 to 1995.
