Staka J. MIČKOVIĆ
STAKA MIĆKOVIĆ*, daughter of JOVO, born on April 10, 1924, in Mostar. Student of the Elementary School. Member of the League of Communist Youth (SKOJ) since 1941, serving as a nurse in the Battalion from the beginning of 1942. She was killed in Ljeskov Dub near Gacko in June 1943. She had “taken refuge with relatives in Ljeskov Dub, where she was executed by Germans along with a large number of local residents.”
In the literature, her sorrow over the death of Hasan Zahirović Laca is recorded, which occurred two months before her own: “A stray bullet, fired from a great distance, struck him in the left eyebrow and remained lodged in his head. Laca fell without a word. What a strange death of a legendary hero. We approached him. Among us was nurse Štaka Mićković, Lacina’s comrade, and Rifat Frenjo, who cried like children, kissing and caressing the lifeless Laca.”
According to Mensur Seforović, Staka was “Laca’s great love.”
