Mileva I. KARIŠIK
MILEVA KARIŠIK, daughter of ILIJA, born on January 26, 1926, in Vareš. Homemaker. Member of the Communist Youth League (SKOJ) since 1943. Joined the Battalion in September 1941 as a nurse at the age of 15, along with her parents Ilija N. Karišik (born in 1896, Zijemlji, Mostar, gunner) and mother Jelka R. Karišik (born in 1897, Tasovčići, Čapljina, homemaker). After the Chetnik coup in June 1942, as decided by the Battalion Headquarters, all three of them were discharged along with several other fighters and ordered to return to Mostar. Mileva died as a courier in Mostar during the Allied bombing (most likely on January 14, 1944).
