Hasan O. JAKIROVIĆ

HASAN JAKIROVIĆ, son of OSMAN, born in Mostar on September 15, 1923. A worker in the coal mine. Joined joined the National Liberation Army and Partisan Detachments in August 1944, in the 4th Battalion of the 13th Herzegovina Brigade. Fighter, killed on December 17, 1944, in the village of Vilenjak near Nevesinje.

Regarding the battles at the time of Hasan’s death, it is recorded:

“As the front line remained on the ‘green line’ for an extended period, enemy raids increasingly took on the character of looting villages in front of the defensive front. These raids were now being carried out more frequently by the forces of just one company. The majority of them occurred in the section between Blagaj and Nevesinje (December 15, 17, 19, 20, 22, 23, and 25, as well as January 9 and 24), with half of them aiming to secure the passage of motor convoys on the Mostar-Nevesinje road. Due to the fact that they often achieved surprise, the losses of the Brigade were significant. The intensity of previous raids reached its peak on January 3, simultaneously in the Nevesinje field and towards Kočerin, as well as the raids on January 17 and 23 towards the units of the 9th Division. Among the fallen were: Jovo Čorluka from Pijesak near Mostar, Mujo Kelecija from Stolac, and Janko Tejšić from Bijelo Polje near Mostar, fighters of the 1st Battalion; Gojko Ćapin from Domaševo near Trebinje, Mirko Glavaš from Hodbina near Mostar, and Ahmed Žustra from Gradac near Ljubinje, fighters of the 3rd Battalion (all on December 15, 1944, at Mali Polje); Hamid Đipa from Prenj near Stolac, Ilija Gustin from Zelenikovac near Neum, Halil Halimić from Prenj near Stolac, and Hasan Jakirović from Mostar, all fighters of the 4th Battalion (on December 17, 1944, in Vilenjak).”
