Homemaker (according to some sources, a worker by profession), wife of Mostar revolutionary Gojko Vukovi\u0107 (1887-1934). Activist of the labor movement. When her husband was killed, she earned for a living as a seamstress. According to the memories of contemporaries, &#8220;for years, she carried the burden of supporting the family; she did the most difficult jobs in people&#8217;s homes just to raise and prepare the children for life.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 31, 1941, a meeting of the Local Committee of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) was held at the Vukovi\u0107 family&#8217;s house. The Usta\u0161e entered the courtyard. Zlatka was on guard duty at that time. She threw a hand grenade at the Usta\u0161e to enable her son and comrades to escape. It was the &#8220;first bomb thrown at the occupiers in the enslaved Mostar.&#8221; The Usta\u0161e captured her, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/ahmet-a-sefic\/\">Ahmet Sefi\u0107<\/a>, a technician and member of the KPJ, and executed them on the same day after torture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Mahmut \u0110iki\u0107\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/mahmut-i-dikic\/\">Mahmut \u0110iki\u0107<\/a> and <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Mustafa Huskovi\u0107\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/mustafa-i-huskovic\/\">Mustafa Huskovi\u0107<\/a> managed to evade the pursuit through the gardens. They were arrested along with their tenants <a href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/dejan-m-popovic\/\">Dejan<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/vera-m-popovic\/\">Vera Popovi\u0107<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/slobodan-g-vukovic\/\">Slobodan Vukovi\u0107<\/a>, the son of Zlatka, managed to escape to Rodo\u010d to his godfather, who betrayed him to the Ustasha the next day. On the same day, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Jusuf \u010cevro\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/jusuf-m-cevro-narodni-heroj\/\">Jusuf \u010cevro<\/a>, a worker and secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ), was also captured. Jusuf and Slobodan were executed together in Ovojci on August 1, 1941. During the People&#8217;s Liberation War (NOB), the remaining members of the Vukovi\u0107 family were also killed: <a href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/mladen-g-vukovic\/\">Mladen<\/a>, a student, on Romanija on August 26, 1941; <a href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/radojka-g-vukovic\/\">Radojka<\/a>, a worker, captured and killed in the Jasenovac concentration camp after the Fifth Enemy Offensive; <a href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/rade-g-vukovic\/\">Rade-Gojko<\/a>, a student, killed on Ivan-sedlo in 1945.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The place of their death differs in sources: according to some sources, Zlatka and Ahmet were shot in the courtyard of the Mostar Gymnasium, while according to others, it was in the village of Ovojci. A monument bearing their names was erected in Ovojci, so that would be the most likely location where they met their deaths. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1984, the memorial house of Gojko Vukovi\u0107 was opened within the Museum of Herzegovina with a museum exhibition about the life and work of the Vukovi\u0107 family. A textile factory in Mostar is named after Zlatka Vukovi\u0107. The family's father, Gojko Vukovi\u0107, a sheet metal worker by profession, was a pre-war communist who led the Mostar organization from the Vukovar Congress of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) in 1920 until his death in 1934. He was a member of the Central Committee of the KPJ and participated in the 6th Congress of the Comintern in 1928. He died on July 6, 1934, in Mostar due to a fall from the roof of a house where he was working as a sheet metal worker.\r\n\r\nAfter Gojko's death, his family - wife Zlatka and children Mladen, Slobodan, Radojka, and Rade - continued to actively participate in the revolutionary movement in Mostar. A party meeting was held in their house on July 31, 1941, during which the Ustasha police raided. Gojko's wife Zlatka (1893-1941) threw a bomb to create an escape opportunity for the participants of the meeting (an event known as the \"first explosion in Mostar\"). Zlatka was arrested and executed on the same day. Son Slobodan managed to escape to the village of Rodo\u010d, but he was arrested on the same day and shot the next day, August 1, together with Jusuf \u010cevro, who became national hero. The other children of Gojko also perished during the war - the eldest son Mladen died in Romanija in 1942; daughter Radojka was captured after the Battle of Sutjeska and later killed in the Jasenovac concentration camp; the youngest son Rade was killed at Ivan-Sedlo during the final battles for liberation.\r\n\r\nAfter the war, the city of Mostar rebuilt the Vukovi\u0107 family's home and turned it into a memorial house with an exhibition about their life and work.
