PREDRAG \u0160KROBI\u0106, son of LJUBICA, born on March 19, 1923, in Mostar, student of Gymnasium, pre-war member of the Communist Youth League (SKOJ), and member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) since January 1941. In the partisan unit from March 1942, serving as a platoon leader. Fighter, died during the Fifth Offensive at Sutjeska in June 1943.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As remembered by fellow fighter Ismet Dilberovi\u0107: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I was closely related to Predrag \u0160krobi\u0107 and Mirko One\u0161\u0107uk<\/a> from the earliest days of his childhood, because we lived in the same neighborhood (Podhum – now Muje Bjelavca Street). Predrag had only his mother, and she only had him. I was present at his last goodbye with his mother Ljubica, right before going to the detachment, Ljubica was crying, and he was telling her not to cry, because her son is going to fight and bring freedom to all people.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n This is how his comrade Enver \u0106emalovi\u0107 remembered him:<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Where should I pause, what should I say? Maybe about the first attack and those who remained mown down beneath Ko\u0161ur, about the moments of anticipation when after crossing the Sutjeska, the entire hour was filled with deadly silence, when the concealed grenadiers followed our progress across the fields, meadows, and forests, when that part of Ko\u0161ur was covered with dead fighters and Nazis, when almost every third fighter had as much ammunition, bombs, and cartridges as we wanted,” said the political commissar of the battalion, Enver \u0106emalovi\u0107, recalling his comrades and the bitter day in June. “I remember those two, Platoon Leader Predrag \u0160krobi\u0107 and the commissar of the Second Company \u0160efik Obad, a teacher and a national hero, through striking details: Predrag from 1941, carrying three rifles, ten bombs, and four hundred rounds of ammunition for the unit preparing to join the Partisans, in a sack thrown over his back as he walked from one end of Mostar to another, from Zahum to Bjelu\u0161ina, sad that he couldn’t join him on the Vele\u017e mountain, and two years later, how he swooped down among the German soldiers above Tjenti\u0161te, and when he hit one just two steps away, he shouted, ‘Look, he jumps like a rabbit.’ That’s how I carry the memory of him in me.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Predrag’s name was recorded on the memorial plaque in the Gymnasium dedicated to fallen professors and students. According to the records of the organization SUBNOR Mostar, every third citizen was an activist of the National Liberation War, 670 fighters were killed, 1517 were victims of fascist terror, and 206 were civilian war victims. Those of us who were 17, 18 years old, some seemed old even though they were not older than 25. The ones over 30 were rare. There were girls and boys with different characteristics and temperaments, robust and calm, talkative and silent, recklessly brave and rational, ordinary and above-average, semi-literate and university-educated, workers and highly skilled craftsmen, high school students and university students, skilled singers and those who couldn't carry a tune, jokers and serious-minded individuals. From all our nations and religions: Muslims, Croats, Serbs, Jews, Orthodox Christians, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, atheists, and semi-atheists. Some were from straight from Mostar and others from the surrounding locations, from Konjic and outside Konjic.\" (Hercegovina Magazine No. 7, p. 238)\r\n\r\nGroups of new fighters arrived from Mostar every 10-15 days, and the Unit quickly grew into a solid military force. The guides for the groups from Mostar were Mehmed Arap, Vasa Maslo, Serif Buri\u0107, Husa Orman, Vojo Ivani\u0161evi\u0107, and Pero Krajina, who were among the bravest and most resourceful fighters. The groups regularly brought not only weapons but also medical supplies, sugar for the hospital, writing materials, large quantities of paper, books taken from the National Library (which formed the library at Borci), and other supplies for the needs of the Unit.
