ISMET SLOBODAN \u0160ARI\u0106, son of HUSEIN, born on January 1, 1915, in Mostar. Metal worker (locksmith) in the coal mine, pre-war member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) (since 1938) and prominent activist. Organizer of miners’ strikes. Participated in a gathering of activists and leaders of the League of Communist Youth (SKOJ) from Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Pr\u0161ljani forest near Bugojno in August 1940, as one of the 15 representatives from Mostar. He fled Mostar due to police persecution following demonstrations in September 1940 and found employment in the Breza mine. Based on information from the Regional Committee for Bosnia and Herzegovina, he was included in the candidate group for the CP Vare\u0161. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of the organizers of the uprising in Breza, where he was killed at the very beginning of the uprising in August 1941. Surrounded by the Ustasha, he fought until the last bullet. Legends about him circulated in Breza for a long time. In Breza, one primary school bore his name, and there was a bust that was removed in the early 1990s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Three of his brothers also lost their lives in the National Liberation War: Nijaz \u0160ari\u0107<\/a>, D\u017eem\u0161id \u0160ari\u0107<\/a>, and Hidajet \u0160ari\u0107<\/a>.
