AHMED* SEFI\u0106, son of ALIJA, born on September 11, 1918, in Mostar, a construction technician. Student at the Technical High School in Sarajevo, from where he was expelled after a high school strike. Member of the League of Communist Youth (SKOJ) since 1938 and the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) since 1939. He took part in an underground action with the activist Emina-Mina Ha\u0107am<\/a>, they took abandoned weapons from the fortress above the Bishop Palace in Mostar. Captured in a Ustasha raid on July 31, 1941, at the Vukovi\u0107 family house in Donja Mahala, where a meeting of KPJ members was taking place for discussions and preparations for the struggle. When the Ustashe entered the yard, Zlatka Vukovi\u0107<\/a>, the wife of the late revolutionary Gojko, threw a bomb to enable their escape. According to one version of events, Zlatka and Ahmet were caught together. According to another version, initially only Zlatka was caught, and Ahmet was captured later (Zlatka’s son Slobodan<\/a> and Jusuf \u010cevro<\/a> were captured the next day). According to eyewitness accounts, Ahmet Sefi\u0107 “escaped to the Neretva River with Slobodan, but he returned to the old house through a side road, where a sizable group of people, women, and children had already gathered. He blended in with the crowd and stood there as an observer. However, someone recognized him and exposed him as a spy, so the Ustashe captured him.” The next day, the Ustashe executed Zlatka, Ahmet, and two of Zlatka’s tenants, Dejan<\/a> and Vera Popovi\u0107<\/a>, which was announced in a proclamation. The place of their death varies in sources: according to some, they were shot in the yard of the Mostar Gymnasium, while others claim it happened in the village of Ovojci. A monument with their names engraved was erected in Ovojci after the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gojko's wife Zlatka (1893-1941) threw a bomb to create an escape opportunity for the participants of the meeting (this event is known as \"the first explosion in Mostar\"). She was arrested and executed on the same day, along with Ahmed Sefi\u0107. Zlatka's son Slobodan (1919-1941) managed to escape to the village of Rodo\u010d but was captured and executed the following day, August 1, along with Jusuf \u010cevro. Zlatka's tenants who happened to be on the location at the time, Dejan and Vera Popovi\u0107, sympathizers of the People's Liberation Movement, were also executed. Mustafa Huskovi\u0107 and Mahmut \u0110iki\u0107 managed to escape. After the war, the city of Mostar rebuilt Gojko Vukovi\u0107's house and turned it into a memorial house with a museum exhibition about the life and work of this family. In the courtyard, there used to be a bust of Gojko Vukovi\u0107, which, according to eyewitnesses, was thrown into the Neretva River during the 1990s war.
