RED\u017dEP MUHAMED HAMA PECI\u0106, son of HAMID, born on August 26, 1906, in Mostar. Auto mechanic. Member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ). Arrested by the Usta\u0161e along with other residents of Mostar on February 12, 1945, a few days before the liberation of Mostar, and transported to Sarajevo, where he was executed. He was killed in Usta\u0161e retaliation just before their withdrawal from Sarajevo in the final days of the war in 1945. After a failed assassination attempt on the notorious Ustashe commander Maks Luburi\u0107 in early March 1945, Luburi\u0107 took control of the judiciary in Sarajevo and established his own “Swift Court.” This so-called “Swift Court” issued death sentences, numbered UKP No. 1\/45 and UKP No. 2\/45, published in the final edition of the Usta\u0161e newspaper “Novi list” on April 3, 1945, sentencing dozens of people to death. Early morning on March 28, 1945, seven days before the city’s liberation, the Usta\u0161e publicly hanged 56 people at Marindvor, and more bodies were found in Luburi\u0107’s villa, some of which could not be identified due to the mutilation of the remains.
