DR. IVAN IVICA MILAKOVI\u0106, son of JOSIP, born on October 16, 1893, in Sarajevo. Gynecologist, employed at the obstetrics and gynecology department of the Banovska Hospital in Mostar. Prominent activist, collaborator of the National Liberation War (NOP) since 1941. One of the lecturers in health courses for hospital attendants, where many future nurses in the unit were prepared. He procured medical supplies, instruments, and medications directly from the Mostar Hospital, which he handed over to the underground for the needs of the Battalion, and treated underground fighters at their homes. Hasnija Demirovi\u0107, born Krpo, recalled the underground work with Dr. Milakovi\u0107: “Once, Dr. Milakovi\u0107 brought a lot of medical supplies in his car. We brought them into the laundry room, where they were properly packaged and then sent off.” Arrested by the NDH police in Mostar in 1944 and released after two months, but his wife Tanja was taken to a concentration camp. He died suddenly on May 4, 1944, in Mostar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Former prisoner in Russia during World War I, Dr. Ivica Milakovi\u0107, a physician at the State Hospital in Mostar since 1926 and head of the Gynecology Department, who had his leg amputated due to gangrene, translator of contributions from the occupiers’ and other press and collaborator of the MK KPJ bulletin, had dr Safet Muji\u0107<\/a>, a member of the Regional Committee of the KPJ for Herzegovina, the ideological leader of the “intellectual group” and the “intellectual cell of the KPJ,” on his ward in the years leading up to the war. Dr Milakovi\u0107’s car, which served as a secure “partisan ambulance,” was involved in this network of determined collaborators of the liberation struggle, and the SKOJ activist Nada Bitanga happened to be present as well.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" DR.
