According to various sources, he was a carpenter or sheet metal worker by profession. He became a member of the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKOJ) in 1941 when he was accepted into one of the SKOJ core cells in Mostar. As an underground operative, he was sent to the &#8220;Poglavnik&#8217;s Body Battalion&#8221; in Zagreb along with Mladen Antunovi\u0107 and <a href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/nikola-m-milicevic\/\" data-type=\"partizan\" data-id=\"1654\">Nikola Mili\u0107evi\u0107 Zec<\/a> for intelligence activities. &#8220;<em>They did not gain significant sources of information and eagerly awaited their first leave and return to Mostar in order to join the partisan Konjic battalion. (The Ustasha uniforms they arrived in were exploited for anti-partisan propaganda by the Chetniks during the &#8216;Chetnik coup&#8217; in 1942)<\/em>.&#8221; He became a member of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) in 1944 and joined the Battalion in September 1943.
