ENVER LAKI\u0160I\u0106, son of AVDIBEG, born on October 30, 1917* in Mostar, a medical student, a player of “Vele\u017e” football club, a member of KPJ (Communist Party of Yugoslavia) since 1940. Joined the Battalion in late 1941 when he went to the field with the Visoko-Fojnica Detachment. He served as a squad commissar and a medic in the surgical team of the Division, led by Dr. Isidor Papi\u0107. In late 1941, he was the head of the hospital in the Kalinovac NOP Detachment, established a partisan hospital in Bijele Vode, and served as a sanitation officer in the Romanija Partisan Battalion. After the Battle of Sutjeska, he went to Breza, where he continued his political activities. In the autumn of 1943, he informed the Supreme Headquarters and the Central Committee of KPJ about the situation in the Breza area in Jajce. He also served as a commissar of the Local Command in Jajce. He was assigned to the formation of the KPJ Committee for the Sarajevo district. He was killed in Vlatnica near Visoko in December 1943.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I remember that down the mountain (\u2026) Enver Laki\u0161i\u0107, our doctor, and Esa Grebo came running to us. The Chetniks had disarmed them in Borci, in the village itself, and let them go. They didn’t harm them, they just took their weapons away (\u2026)”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Enver \u0106emalovi\u0107: “Before nightfall, Hamid Drljevi\u0107 and the wounded Enver Laki\u0161i\u0107<\/a> joined them. When night fell, with the moonlight shining as if it were day, they crossed the Sutjeska River. Hamid carried Enver across the water. They stayed under the Vu\u010devo rocks for three nights and three days. There were girls and boys with different characteristics and temperaments, robust and calm, talkative and silent, recklessly brave and rational, ordinary and above-average, semi-literate and university-educated, workers and highly skilled craftsmen, high school students and university students, skilled singers and those who couldn't carry a tune, jokers and serious-minded individuals. From all our nations and religions: Muslims, Croats, Serbs, Jews, Orthodox Christians, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, atheists, and semi-atheists. Some were from straight from Mostar and others from the surrounding locations, from Konjic and outside Konjic.\" (Hercegovina Magazine No. 7, p. 238)\r\n\r\nGroups of new fighters arrived from Mostar every 10-15 days, and the Unit quickly grew into a solid military force. The guides for the groups from Mostar were Mehmed Arap, Vasa Maslo, Serif Buri\u0107, Husa Orman, Vojo Ivani\u0161evi\u0107, and Pero Krajina, who were among the bravest and most resourceful fighters. The groups regularly brought not only weapons but also medical supplies, sugar for the hospital, writing materials, large quantities of paper, books taken from the National Library (which formed the library at Borci), and other supplies for the needs of the Unit.
