In late July 1941, during the mass arrests of Serbs when Tanja Pe\u0161ko refused to move to Serbia with her parents, Hatid\u017ea hid the illegal activist Tanja Pe\u0161ko. “In the neighborhood, she would say that her ‘cousin from Bosnia’ had arrived.” As an illegal activist, she was involved in collecting and hiding weapons and ammunition. She joined the National Liberation Army and Partisan Detachments on February 14, 1945, in the 11th Dalmatian Brigade.
