KRESO\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- wp:themify-builder\/canvas \/-->\n\n\n<p>MUSTAFA KRESO, son of MEHMED, born on April 5, 1914, in Mostar, a carpenter and pre-war activist of the workers&#8217; movement. He joined the Battalion in the autumn of 1941, becoming a fighter. He was killed in Drami\u0161evo near Nevesinje in June 1942* during a battle against the Chetniks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the memories of Branko Popadi\u0107, a comrade from the Mostar Battalion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Novica and Vaso Glogovac, along with 20 other villagers who were former partisans from the village of Drami\u0161eva (&#8230;), deceitfully disarmed and tied up 12 fighters (from Mostar) who were part of a partisan squad in Drami\u0161eva. On June 4, 1942, the captured fighters were taken to the edge of the village, where they were shot and thrown into a lime pit. These were young men, mostly workers and students, all members of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia (KPJ) and the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKOJ), namely: <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Alikalfi\u0107 Ibro Duje\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/ibrahim-o-alikalfic\/\">Alikalfi\u0107 Ibro Duje<\/a>, a worker from Mostar, fighter D\u017eafebegovi\u0107, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Had\u017eiomerovi\u0107 Muhamed\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/muhamed-m-hadziomerovic\/\">Had\u017eiomerovi\u0107 Muhamed<\/a>, a worker from Mostar, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Kosjerina Branko\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/branko-v-kosjerina\/\">Kosjerina Branko<\/a>, an official from Mostar, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Kljako Omer\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/omer-b-kljako\/\">Kljako Omer<\/a>, a worker from Mostar, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Skiki\u0107 Salem\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/salem-a-skikic\/\">Skiki\u0107 Salem<\/a>, a worker from Mostar, Stipi\u0107 Tomo, a worker from Mostar, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"\u0160ari\u0107 Hido\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/hidajet-h-saric\/\">\u0160ari\u0107 Hido<\/a>, a student from Mostar, \u0160ehovi\u0107 Alija, a worker from Mostar, and Kreso Mustafa, a worker from Mostar. Thus, they killed 19 fighters in Drami\u0161eva alone&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the testimony of Enver \u0106emalovi\u0107:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;In the afternoon, around 4 o&#8217;clock, Jovan Glogovac arrived in the village of Kru\u0161evljane and told us that in Drami\u0161eva and Zaborani, many communists and Montenegrins had been killed, and that 12 fighters from Mostar, who were held in the basement of his house, had been disarmed. He offered to have Commander Ranko Ivan\u010devi\u0107 of the gendarmerie barracks send ten men to take custody of the prisoners and hand them over to the Italians in Nevesinje. Since the villagers rejected this proposal, Jovan returned to Drami\u0161eva. Upon Jovan&#8217;s return to the village, a Chetnik council was convened under the leadership of Novica Glogovac, who decided to kill the disarmed fighters. Under the cover of darkness, the Chetniks took the prisoners, led them to the outskirts of the village, and executed them.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*According to the source &#8220;Spomenica Mostara 1941-1945,&#8221; the surname is Kreso. In earlier documentation, it was also recorded as Kre\u0161o, which was incorrect. Until the formation of the 13th Herzegovina Brigade in May 1944, 827 fighters passed through the Battalion, and 445 of them perished, including 211 from Mostar. Of the 86 women, 43 were killed. Mostar residents also fought in many other units of the NOVJ (People's Liberation Army of Yugoslavia) and among the ranks of the activists of the National Liberation War in Mostar and other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina... Those of us who were 17, 18 years old, some seemed old even though they were not older than 25. The ones over 30 were rare. There were girls and boys with different characteristics and temperaments, robust and calm, talkative and silent, recklessly brave and rational, ordinary and above-average, semi-literate and university-educated, workers and highly skilled craftsmen, high school students and university students, skilled singers and those who couldn't carry a tune, jokers and serious-minded individuals. From all our nations and religions: Muslims, Croats, Serbs, Jews, Orthodox Christians, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, atheists, and semi-atheists. Some were from straight from Mostar and others from the surrounding locations, from Konjic and outside Konjic.\" (Hercegovina Magazine No. 7, p. 238)\r\n\r\nGroups of new fighters arrived from Mostar every 10-15 days, and the Unit quickly grew into a solid military force. The guides for the groups from Mostar were Mehmed Arap, Vasa Maslo, Serif Buri\u0107, Husa Orman, Vojo Ivani\u0161evi\u0107, and Pero Krajina, who were among the bravest and most resourceful fighters. The groups regularly brought not only weapons but also medical supplies, sugar for the hospital, writing materials, large quantities of paper, books taken from the National Library (which formed the library at Borci), and other supplies for the needs of the Unit.
