DELI\u0106"},"content":{"rendered":"<!-- wp:themify-builder\/canvas \/-->\n\n\n<p>D\u017dEMAL DELI\u0106, son of SALKO, born on December 8, 1920* in Mostar, a locksmith by profession, and a member of the League of Communist Youth (SKOJ) since 1941. He joined the Battalion in early 1942 and actively participated in the resistance. However, he was captured by the Ustasha forces near Konjic during the Chetnik coup in June 1942. He was handed over to the Italians, interned in the Mamula camp, and later released. He was subsequently captured during a raid in Mostar in July 1943 and executed in Ovojci, near Mostar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the same day, four fighters were executed in Ovojci: <a href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/radojka-r-gnjatic-ivanisevic\/\">RADOJKA RACA IVANI\u0160EVl\u0106-GNJATl\u0106<\/a>, worker, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"MEHMED HUSKOVI\u0106\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/meho-i-huskovic\/\">MEHMED HUSKOVI\u0106<\/a>, worker, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"SMAIL JUGO\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/smajil-a-jugo\/\">SMAIL JUGO<\/a>, worker, and <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"MEHMED PALA\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/mehmed-m-pala\/\">MEHMED PALA<\/a>, worker; and from the city, twelve illegal fighters: <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"SALKO \u010cUKUR\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/salko-s-cukur\/\">SALKO \u010cUKUR<\/a>, worker, D\u017dEMAL DELI\u0106, worker, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"HAMDIJA DIZDAREVI\u0106\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/hamdija-s-dizdarevic\/\">HAMDIJA DIZDAREVI\u0106<\/a>, worker, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"\u0106AMIL HAD\u017dAJLl\u0106\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/camil-m-hadzajlic\/\">\u0106AMIL HAD\u017dAJLl\u0106<\/a>, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"PETAR JANJALIJA\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/pero-d-janjalija\/\">PETAR JANJALIJA<\/a>, student, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"IBRO KAZAZI\u0106\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/ibro-m-kazazic\/\">IBRO KAZAZI\u0106<\/a>, worker, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"JUSUF MALKO\u010c\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/jusuf-j-malkoc\/\">JUSUF MALKO\u010c<\/a>, worker, ZAIM NIK\u0160I\u0106, <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"AVDIJA PAVLOVI\u0106\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/avdija-m-pavlovic\/\">AVDIJA PAVLOVI\u0106<\/a>, worker, <a href=\"https:\/\/partizansko.info\/en\/partizan\/teofik-a-puzic\/\">TEOFIK PUZI\u0106<\/a>, worker, HALID SADIKOVI\u0106, worker, and ALIJA SALAHOVI\u0106.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After the war, D\u017eemal&#8217;s mother testified: <em>&#8220;As far as I remember, in the summer of 1942, my son \u0110emal, 22 years old, was suspected of being a partisan, so Croatian armed forces arrested him and handed him over to the Italians\u2026 and they sent him to the concentration camp at Mamula. He stayed at Mamula for a full 18 months. After that, he returned home. Just when he had been home for 18 days, the Germans arrested him again and took him somewhere. Since then, I haven&#8217;t heard anything about him. He complained to me that Mamula was very difficult because he had weakened due to hunger, so he was placed in a hospital where he recovered a bit. I don&#8217;t know anything about his current whereabouts and life. My son \u0110emal worked in the mine and was my main provider. Until the formation of the 13th Herzegovina Brigade in May 1944, 827 fighters passed through the Battalion, and 445 of them perished, including 211 from Mostar. Of the 86 women, 43 were killed. Mostar residents also fought in many other units of the NOVJ (People's Liberation Army of Yugoslavia) and among the ranks of the activists of the National Liberation War in Mostar and other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina... According to the records of the organization SUBNOR Mostar, every third citizen was an activist of the National Liberation War, 670 fighters were killed, 1517 were victims of fascist terror, and 206 were civilian war victims. Those of us who were 17, 18 years old, some seemed old even though they were not older than 25. The ones over 30 were rare. There were girls and boys with different characteristics and temperaments, robust and calm, talkative and silent, recklessly brave and rational, ordinary and above-average, semi-literate and university-educated, workers and highly skilled craftsmen, high school students and university students, skilled singers and those who couldn't carry a tune, jokers and serious-minded individuals. From all our nations and religions: Muslims, Croats, Serbs, Jews, Orthodox Christians, Catholics, Muslims, Jews, atheists, and semi-atheists. Some were from straight from Mostar and others from the surrounding locations, from Konjic and outside Konjic.\" (Hercegovina Magazine No. 7, p. 238)\r\n\r\nGroups of new fighters arrived from Mostar every 10-15 days, and the Unit quickly grew into a solid military force. The guides for the groups from Mostar were Mehmed Arap, Vasa Maslo, Serif Buri\u0107, Husa Orman, Vojo Ivani\u0161evi\u0107, and Pero Krajina, who were among the bravest and most resourceful fighters. The groups regularly brought not only weapons but also medical supplies, sugar for the hospital, writing materials, large quantities of paper, books taken from the National Library (which formed the library at Borci), and other supplies for the needs of the Unit.
