There we hid the stolen iron bars, the defense of the garden of Mostar’s Paher bookstore; apricots and pears from the orchard of Age Ćišić, whose son Remzija, our friend, stood guard to warn us if his father approached in bad weather; grapes from the courtyard slope of the merchant Alikalfić, while his son Suljo would hide his mother – their father had sent her a message through an unknown passerby to come quickly – better to the shop in Carina.”

Life in the unit: “They loved actions, and the hardest thing for them was the constant immobility in positions, especially during winter and spring days when the frost was biting or the rain penetrated through their bones. In those situations, famous Mostar jokes came to the forefront, creating a cheerful atmosphere in the company. During those spring days, the first cherries had ripened in gardens near Konjic. Mostar fighters would descend into the gardens at night to pick them. When Commander Rade Španac found out about it, he prohibited them from doing so, as someone could get in trouble. However, since discipline was not their virtue, Enes Orman, Hivza Brkić, Meho Taso, and Remze Ćišić continued their actions. As they went individually, unaware of each other, comical situations occurred. It happened that one of them was already up in the tree, sitting among the branches and picking cherries. Later, another one arrived under the same cherry tree and suddenly shouted through the darkness, ‘Who’s up there?’ and the one above replied, ‘Who’s down there?’ As these incidents happened right near Italian positions, such surprises were a big deal for them.”

“On the night of June 14/15 1942 (…) the following fighters were killed in the positions: HIVZIJA BRKIĆ BAUK, a student from Mostar, SULJO CILIĆ, a student from the village of Djevor near Jablanica, the first secretary of the party cell during the formation of the company in Bijela, REMZIJA ĆIŠIĆ, a worker from Mostar, IBRO DIZDAREVIĆ, a worker from Mostar, AHMET GRCIĆ, a student from Konjic, MEHO HINDIĆ, a peasant from Jablanica, MUJO HUBANA, a peasant from Humilišani near Mostar. MEHMED ŠAPUH, a worker from Mostar, and MUHAMED TASLAMAN BEG, a worker from Mostar.
